It is used to assist in the diagnosis of certain rhythm disturbances that can be difficult to identify using traditional short term external ECG recording diagnostic tests, e.g. Holter monitor.
The device is particularly useful in detecting rhythm disturbances that cause symptoms infrequently.
The device is typically implanted under the skin in the left chest region and is capable of storing ECG data automatically in response to a significant rhythm disturbance based on patient activation.
