Referrals

It is essential you bring a current referral from your family doctor.
Please note that in order to be eligible for a Medicare Rebate, a valid referral is required. Generally, referrals from general practitioners are valid for 12 months, and those from specialists/physicians are valid for 3 months only. Please ensure your referral is up to date.

Cancellations

If you need to cancel an appointment we will require at least 24 hours’ notice in order to offer the appointment to someone else.

No Show Policy

As a courtesy to other patients who need to see the doctor urgently, please confirm your attendance at least three days prior to your scheduled appointment.

If you are unable to confirm your appointment, or our staff cannot contact you to confirm, another patient in need will be given your scheduled appointment.

Cancellation or failure to confirm often translates to a lengthy delay in seeing a Cardiologist due to the busy nature of our practice.

Professional Fees

Port Macquarie Cardiology is committed to providing the highest quality of specialist cardiology care. Our fees are lower than that recommended by the Australian Medical Association for specialty cardiology services. We are not a Bulk Billing Practice, however, Pensioners, Veterans and Health Care Card Holders are eligible for a concession. Please ask at reception when booking your test.

Emergency

If you experience chest pain, extreme breathlessness or loss of consciousness, please call Triple Zero (000) or present directly to the Port Macquarie Base Hospital Emergency (02) 5524 2000.
