Cardiac CT technology allows for an accurate non-invasive assessment of the coronary arteries. This modality of imaging is commonly used to assess coronary anatomy and identify the extent of coronary atherosclerosis or ‘blockages’ within the coronary vessels.
Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is an imaging method that uses powerful magnets and radio waves to create pictures of the heart. It does not use radiation (x-rays). Your cardiologist may recommend this test when investigating a possible heart muscle disorder known as cardiomyopathy. This test is also useful in assessing patients with congenital heart disease.
